Terms of service

Bakesters is a home-baked goods business operating under Ohio’s Cottage Food Law. When you place an order or submit a custom inquiry, you’re agreeing to the terms below. If anything is unclear, send a note through our contact form and Jenn will answer personally.

“Bakesters” (we, us, our) is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Jennifer Ramsey out of a home kitchen in Delaware, Ohio. Contact: our contact form.

This Product is Home Produced. Bakesters operates as a Cottage Food Operation under Ohio Revised Code §3715.01. Our home kitchen is not subject to inspection by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. By ordering, you acknowledge and accept this.

Every item is baked in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, and tree nuts. Cross-contact is possible even for items labeled “Nut-Free” or “Gluten-Free”. If you have a severe allergy, contact Jenn before ordering.

Each product lists a minimum lead time. We reserve the right to decline any order we can’t fulfill on the requested date and will refund in full if so. Custom cake inquiries require a minimum of 14 days’ notice; weddings require 6 weeks minimum.

Prices are listed in US dollars. Ohio sales tax (currently 7.25% for Delaware County) is added at checkout. Payment is processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

Standard orders are charged in full at checkout. Custom cake orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit todayto reserve your date; the remaining 50% is due at pickup (cash, Venmo, or a second card charge). Your order isn’t confirmed until the deposit clears.

We do not ship. All orders are pickup only at a location in Delaware, Ohio. Jenn will email you the address and a 2-hour pickup window the day before your scheduled date.

If you no-show without contacting us, your order is forfeit after 48 hours and we cannot issue a refund. If you need to reschedule, reach out at least 48 hours before pickup and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Standard items (cookies, cupcakes, cutters): you may cancel for a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup. After production begins (48 hours prior), no refunds.

Custom orders (see detail below): the 50% deposit is non-refundable once Jenn accepts the order. If you need to change flavor, design, or servings, contact Jenn before the lead window starts.

If your order is damaged or incorrect on pickup, let Jenn know at the time of pickup and she’ll make it right — remake, partial refund, or store credit, case by case.

Custom orders — custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and wedding cakes — are booked with a 50% non-refundable deposit. The deposit covers Jenn’s design work, reserves your date on her calendar, and offsets specialty ingredient sourcing.

Custom cakes / cupcakes / cookies (birthdays, showers, events):

• 50% deposit at the time of booking confirmation
• Remaining 50% due at pickup (cash, Venmo, or card)
• Minimum 10–14 days lead time depending on complexity
• Deposit is non-refundable once design work begins

Wedding cakes (different payment schedule):

• 50% deposit at the time of booking confirmation
• Remaining 50% is due fourteen (14) days before the wedding date, not at delivery. The week before the wedding is when Jenn purchases specialty ingredients and begins production; she cannot chase payment at that stage.
• Cakes must be fully paid before delivery. No exceptions. If final payment isn’t received 14 days before the wedding, the booking is forfeit and the deposit is retained.
• Minimum 6 weeks lead time; peak dates book out further

For any custom flow, AI reference renderings generated during the builder are exactly that — references. Exact colors, floral placement, and sugar-work detail always vary from the rendering. Jenn’s handmade result is the contracted product, not the AI image.

Submitting an inquiry through /custom doesn’t obligate you to purchase. Jenn reviews every inquiry personally and replies within 48 hours with a quote. Quotes are valid for 14 days from the time they’re sent.

To check out or submit an inquiry, you’ll sign in with a magic link sent to your email. You’re responsible for keeping access to that email secure. Don’t impersonate someone else and don’t share account access.

All imagery, copy, and recipes on this site belong to Bakesters. You’re welcome to share and tag us on social. Please don’t republish photos or copy without asking first — Jenn will almost always say yes.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Bakesters is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising out of your use of this site or our products. Our total liability for any order is capped at the amount you paid for that order.

We may update these terms as the business grows. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
